Simone Arianne Biles, /sI'moUn/baI@lzwas born on March 14, 1997. Shannon Miller holds the record for most Olympic medals that an American gymnast, with seven. She is also the equal ninth in total. With 25 World Championship medals won, she is the most decorated gymnast in the history of the Gymnastics World Championships. Many believe she to be the greatest gymnast of all time. In 2022, Biles was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Joe Biden. Biles was awarded gold medals during the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympics. She also won bronze in balance beam as well as floor, all-around, and vault. Biles was part of the United States team known as the "Final Five". However, Biles pulled out of most of the contest due to her difficulties with "the twisties" which refers to temporary loss of air balance awareness. She ultimately won an Olympic silver medal for the US team as well as a bronze medal on the balance beam. The judges were impressed with the partial withdrawal she had made, her mental and physical health focus, perseverance and determination to stay in good health. She is also a five time World all-around champion (2013-15 and 2018-19) and five times World floor exercise champion (2013)-2015 and 2018-2019) and three times World balance beam champion (2014)-2015 and 2019) Two times World vault champion (2018) and was part of the gold-winning American teams in all four World Artistic Gymnastics Championships (2014, 2015, 2018, and 2019). She is also a three-time World silver medalist (2013 and 2014 on vault, and 2018 on uneven bars, 2018 on vault) and three-time World bronze medalist (2015 on vault 2013, 2013 and 2018 on the balance beam).
Biles is the gymnast with the highest number of World medals (25) and most World gold medals (19) surpassing Vitaly Scherbo's record of 23 World medals by winning her 24th and 25th medals, both gold medals, at the 2019 competition in Stuttgart. [8] Biles is the female gymnast who has earned the most World all around titles (5). She is the sixth female to receive an individual all-around title during the Olympics and World Championships. She is the tenth female gymnast, and first American female gymnast to receive the World medal on every event and is the first gymnast female since Daniela Silivas in 1988 to achieve a medal at every event at a single Olympic Games or World Championships the feat was achieved during the 2018 World Championships in Doha. Biles was born on 14 March 1997 in Columbus, Ohio. She is the third of her four siblings. Shanon Biles, her birth mother, didn't have the time for Simone as well as her three other children, Adria, Ashley, or Tevin. The four kids were all placed between foster and adoption care. Biles is the maternal grandfather Ron Biles and Nellie Cayetano Biles became aware that Shanon had been placed in foster care. They began caring for Shanon's children temporarily in Spring, Texas in 2000. In 2003, the couple officially adopted Simone and her younger sister Adria. Ron's sister Shanon's aunt Harriet adopted the two oldest kids. Biles, through her adoptive mother, is a holder of Belizean citizenship and considers Belize as her second home. Biles as well as her family members are Catholic.
